Internal Landscapes – Peaceful Surreal Art
It’s been a while since I had the chance to post so many (well, two at the moment) personal artworks. In fact, I had not published anything 100% personal since 2011’s “Conversations” until I released “Patience” a month ago.
The thing is that I’ve got around 10 new personal illustrations gathering dust on my hard drives, but lately I’m having a hard time to gather some space to post on the net. My commissions schedule is getting me on fire, so I am going to try to post one of those new artworks every two weeks. Let’s cross fingers 🙂
“Internal landscapes” comes from three paths. The first one, was my work for the single “Condition” by the icelandic rock band Frost featuring Iago Pico and Michel Sult from Deathwalking (from whom I worked as well for their second full length album, “My last 14 minutes”, to be released in 2014).
They asked me to create an human defending nature sort of thing. While I was sketching and doing photo try outs for their artwork, I “accidentally” started this one, as a product of a cross-inspiration from myself. Never showed to them as the concept was a bit far away form what they were asking for. I saved the image to finish it in the future and it took more than a month to reach to that point. There was plenty of empty space or “air” in the image, that was making me feel unsure about its composition, but for once I decided that it was time to explore that kind of ambiance, for once and all.
Second, this image follows my desire of keep on exploring nature, and also, our relationship with it, as a part of it, but also as an independent being from it because of our real working nature: being civilized individuals.
And third: Yes, the title of this illustration comes from the very title of a photo series I’m working on, that I announced some months ago (and which is taking forever because of my schedule overload, and currently it’s on hiatus with 6 of 12 images already done). I think of this artwork to be a sort of a cover for it, despite the fact of the series being photography focused.
I did also some close-ups of the artwork for you curious ones:
I was not really expecting to talk this much about this project :). I hope you enjoy it, it remains as one of my personal favorites… at least at the moment! Fine art prints are on sale now on deviantArt, RedBubble and Fine Art America, and it’s also included on my 2014 Calendar.
But you can also download and HD wallpaper set and bring it with you wherever you go. You can download the wallpaper pack by clicking here 🙂
I hope to come back to post some of the commissions I’ve been doing recently before holidays, if not, enjoy your vacation meanwhile!
