ILLUSTRATED CUSTOM POSTER DESIGNS
Illustrated Posters that Break the Fourth Wall
A poster is more than just a visual: it’s an invitation, a mood-setter, and often the first impression your audience will have of your film, play or event. As a freelance poster designer, I specialize in creating custom poster designs for film, performing arts, music events, and live gigs. My artwork draws people in and leaves them eager to experience what you have to offer.
Whether it’s for a short film, a full-length feature, a theatrical performance, or a live music event, I create illustrated poster designs for film and other industries that not only promote your vision but also tell a story. My designs go beyond aesthetics, working to communicate the essence of your project in a single, powerful image.
How to Commission your Illustrated Poster
Illustrated Poster Designs for Film, Theater & Gigs
Need a theatrical one-sheet that screams your film’s vibe from across the lobby? Perfect. On a festival deadline with a budget tighter than a zoom lens? I’ve got your back. You can commission a fully customized illustrated poster, give me creative freedom to craft the perfect movie poster design, or license an existing artwork from my gallery if time is tight. Together, we’ll find the perfect visual identity for your project.
I create custom poster designs that evoke the tone and style of your film, offering a glimpse into the narrative. My posters capture the energy and spirit of your production. And for live gigs and music events, I design eye-catching custom poster designs that not only stand out but also resonate with your audience.
My artistic style blends surrealism, symbolism, and rich storytelling, creating visuals that evoke emotion and intrigue. I design more than just posters: I create an experience that complements your project and engages your audience.
Custom Poster Designs, Tailored to You

As a freelance poster designer, I specialize in both print posters and digital designs for screens, social media, and web platforms. Whether you need large-format prints for a theater lobby, a billboard, or sleek graphics for an online campaign, I ensure consistency across all formats. Additionally, I can design all derivative promotional materials: flyers, banners, and digital ads—to create a cohesive and impactful marketing package.
Working closely with filmmakers, theater producers, and marketing teams, I make sure each poster isn’t just a visual element but an extension of your story and branding. A poster design is often the first thing your audience sees—it should make an impression as lasting as the experience itself.

Design meets Art
In a sea of generic face-mashup collage posters, standing out requires artistry. I design posters that go beyond the usual clichés, capturing the heart of your film or event with unique, compelling visuals. These designs aren’t just for promotion—they create a lasting impact and demand attention.

Social Media Ready
In today’s world, your poster needs to make an impact both on paper and across digital platforms. My designs are optimized for both print and digital formats, resolutions and sizes, ensuring your event gets noticed, whether displayed at the venue, shared on social media, or printed as limited-edition art.

Derivative Designs
I can adapt the designs to different medias and outlets such as merchandise, special editions, promotional materials and press campaigns, using unique visuals to create something distinctive for each context. Your designs will stand out in every market, making your project unforgettable wherever it’s shown.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I commission a custom poster design?
To get started, simply reach out via my contact form with details about your event, film, or project. Include the theme, target audience, and any specific ideas you have. I appreciate if you can send references or inspiration images, as well as if you already have a marketing plan for your release. As a freelance poster designer, I’ll provide a quote and timeline, and we’ll work together to bring your vision to life.
How do I know if your style will fit my project?
I specialize in dark surrealism with vibrant, colorful designs, which work exceptionally well for genres like metal, rock, and alternative music for gig posters, or dark fantasy, drama and suspense for films. However, I am most comfortable designing illustrated posters and it’s the field where I feel more comfortable experimenting. I love old, illustrated poster designs where art directors and marketing teams were more comfortable finding new ways to share the core ideas of a film. It all depends on the message and vibe your project has. Explore my portfolio to see examples, and if you’re unsure, let’s chat—I’ll help you visualize how my style can enhance your release. I am always eager to try and experiment with news aesthetics and styles, so if you want to go beyond dark surrealism, I’ll be delighted to experiment and have fun! You can also browse my catalog of cover art licensing to find inspiration or even grab one of my available artworks for your custom poster design.
Can you help me come with a concept for my poster design?
Absolutely! Many artists come to me with just a general idea. I will need material for inspiration, so be sure to have a rough mix fragment of your film or a comprehensive text brief, a teaser video of your performance or your latest album if you want a design campaign for your tour. Rest assured; we can sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement if needed be. Think of me as your freelance cover artist and creative partner!
Do you work with independent filmmakers and small event organizers?
Absolutely! As a freelance poster designer, I work with independent filmmakers, event organizers, and large production companies alike. Whether you’re promoting a small gig or a major film premiere, I’ll create a poster that captures the essence of your project.
What's your process for creating custom poster designs?
Every project starts with understanding your event or film’s theme, tone, and target audience. From there, I create initial sketches and concepts and share them with you. With your feedback, we will find the direction and vibe of your illustrated poster design. Then, I work on the final design until it’s perfect, showing it to you when it is nearly done to implement any minor adjustments. The process is collaborative, ensuring the final artwork aligns with your artistic vision. As a movie poster designer, I’ll work closely with you to develop a concept that captures the essence of your project. Through collaboration and feedback, we’ll refine the design until it’s perfect.
Can you design posters for any type of event or project?
Yes! As a freelance poster designer, I specialize in creating custom poster designs for films, theater productions, music events, art exhibitions, and more. Each design is tailored to reflect the unique spirit of your project.
What if I don't have a clear idea for my poster design?
No problem! Many authors come to me with just their manuscript or a general theme. I’ll read your synopsis, discuss your ideas, and help craft a concept that captures the heart of your story.
Do you design posters styles other than dark surrealism?
Absolutely! While I specialize in dark surrealism and colorful realism, I’m experienced in creating a wide range of styles, from minimalistic to vintage or illustrative. Every project has a story, and I’ll tailor the design to match your vision. I am especially interested in illustrated poster designs, so if that is your vibe, drop me a line!
Will you take care of typography and layout of my poster?
Absolutely! Typography is a crucial part of poster design. I’ll design custom fonts or choose existing ones that complement the artwork and ensure your any important information stands out.
How much does a custom poster design cost?
Pricing depends on the complexity of the design and the scope of your project. Every release has its own needs, and I don’t work with static prices. I need to have a deep dive into the themes of your film or event to envision the complexity of the art. Also, I need to calculate costs for any design elements included in your commission, such as promotional materials or derivative products, such as alternate poster formats, press releases, etc. I’ll take those into consideration alongside the scope of your whole project (print runs, territories of the release, etc) to calculate your quote. Strict and tight deadlines also have an extra fee. If you are ordering a full packaging design with custom illustrated poster design, don’t expect to pay less than one thousand bucks unless you are using illustrations from my cover art licensing collection. However, even if that’s out of your budget, feel free to ask: There is always a way to find the perfect design for your album inside the limits of your budget!
Do you offer free cover designs or discounts for new artists?
I do not offer free cover designs as each project requires a significant amount of time and effort. However, I understand the financial pressures that independent artists and new filmmakers often face. To help, I offer flexible payment options, including installments, so you can still get the custom poster design you need without straining your budget. Whether you’re releasing a full-length murder thriller, a fantasy short film or a postmodern piece of performative arts, we can work out a plan that suits your needs and ensures you get the best possible design.
Do you offer payment plans for custom poster arts?
Yes! I understand that upfront costs can be tough, so I offer payment plans for all custom poster designs. I offer flexible payment plans and discounts for multiple projects or long-term collaborations. I also provide tailored solutions for independent filmmakers and small event organizers on tight budgets. Let’s discuss the best way to approach the payments based on your project.
What's the scope of the license for custom poster designs?
The scope of the license varies based on how you intend to use the custom poster design. I offer different licensing options depending on factors like:
• Exclusivity: You can choose between exclusive or non-exclusive licenses. An exclusive license grants you sole rights to the design, while a non-exclusive license allows me to keep some rights to the art, such as the possibility to sell prints on my shop. But don’t worry: a custom poster design will never be licensed to other projects!
• Print Run & Materials: The license can vary based on the number of copies you plan to print. If you’re planning a limited-edition release with a smaller print run, the license may be priced differently compared to a large-scale release. The license will also take into account any additional materials that might use the design, such as different poster formats for billboard or press as well as any other promotional materials.
• Territories: We’ll define the territories where the design will be used. For example, a license for worldwide use will differ in cost from a limited territory license (e.g., regional or national). We can tailor this based on your distribution plans. By discussing your specific needs, we’ll ensure the custom cover artwork license is tailored to your project, ensuring you get the rights you need for your illustrated poster design. Let’s chat about what works best for your release and long-term goals!
Can I license existing artwork for my poster?
Yes! You can license existing artwork from my gallery. If there is an artwork on my gallery that already captures the heart of your project, that’s a fast and affordable way to have your marketing campaign ready in no time. I’ll customize it with any information you need, and other details to make it uniquely yours. In some cases, I can alter the original art to adequate it to the idea of your release.
Can you create artwork for both digital and physical formats?
Yes! As a freelance poster designer, I design posters optimized for print (large-format, billboards) and digital formats (social media, websites). I’ll provide high-resolution files and guidelines to ensure your poster looks stunning everywhere.
Can you design derivative materials like flyers or banners?
Absolutely! I offer derivative designs adapted from the original illustrated poster design for flyers, banners, digital ads, and more. This ensures a cohesive visual identity for your event or project.
Can I use the poster design for merchandise or promotional materials?
Yes! Once your custom poster design is complete, we can discuss licensing options for merchandise, posters, and promotional materials. I’ll ensure the design works seamlessly across all platforms.
How long does it take to complete a custom poster design?
The timeline varies based on the project’s complexity and number of materials, but most custom poster designs are completed within 3-4 weeks. Usually, a full packaging design project containing a fully illustrated poster design plus derivative materials and promotional designs, can take up to 1 or 2 months, again depending on the complexity and number of materials. If you need a quick turnaround, I offer rush services for an additional fee. Please, bear in mind that my schedule is usually full months in advance, so be sure to contact me with enough time to ensure a spot in my timeline!
How do you handle feedback and revisions?
I provide drafts for approval at key stages of the design process, especially at the beginning. Your feedback is incorporated to ensure the final artwork meets your vision. Unless you have a very specific and complex idea that needs permanent oversight to respect the lore included in your project, I ask for creative freedom to ensure a hefty and agile process without interruptions and delays. I include a set number of revisions, with additional changes available if needed, depending on your needs.
Do you accept commissions with tight deadlines?
It depends on the complexity and scope of what you need. My schedule is usually full months in advance, and I can only attend certain urgencies, like simple custom poster designs that I can create in overtime hours. Keep in mind that commissions with very tight, strict deadlines will have an additional fee. Let me know your deadline, and I’ll do my best to accommodate it without compromising quality!
What if I need changes after the final design is delivered?
As a freelance cover artist, I take pride in my clients’ happiness. I include a set number of revisions in my process to ensure you’re happy with the final poster design. If you need additional changes after delivery, I offer affordable revision packages to accommodate your needs.
