‘Betrayal’ Sugar Art Sculpture by Karolina Gergelova

I’m often asked by art students if they can copy some of my works for their art classes and such, which is totally fine with me. It’s always very nice to see the same results done by other people. But what I never expected was a sugar artist approaching my way to recreate such a complex artwork as my piece “Betrayal” is (at least, in its original digital form).

I was approached some weeks ago by sugar artist and cake designer Karolina Gergelova from UK. To be honest, I didn’t even know what a sugar artist was until she told me. People making sculptures with sugar! How could I not have thought about that before? Well, the case is that Karolina wanted to create an inspired piece of sugar goodness basing her talent upon my piece “Betrayal”, and the results are here! She even put some lighting behind the piece to make some parts glow like in the original illustration.

I must say I’m amazed and delighted! You cannot see such things everyday, and I’m pleased I server as some sort of inspiration to someone, so that’s why I wanted to share this experience with you 🙂
