“Deep” is a digital painting created over a photographic composition, technique commonly known as “overpainting”. I chose this medium to bring some raw and dirty visuals to the final image.
deep /di:pi/ adjective
This is stress, anxiety and passion coming from within, when you can’t hold what you’re feeling any longer. The businessman offers a stark contrast to anything related to emotions, allowing to show that the emotional turmoil can we found in each human beign, beyond materialism and modern life constructs surrounding the idea of money and possesions.
The rose, representing beauty or love, set the character on fire. After the burst, a burnt out fish comes flying off the cloud of fire. There’s a popular saying in Spanish: “like a fish out of the water”. This popular sentence means feeling very uncomfortable about something.
“Deep” and its emotional dark surrealism offers one of the most high-contrast images of my collection, facing intense oranges against deep, dark and cold emerald tones in the background. It’s striking, powerful and aggressive, but at the same time it brings a strong form of visual poetry and offers some empathy to the viewers when they’re burn out.
Being a freelance, independent artist is very fun, but sometimes it feels lonely out there. With ever evolving social media platforms getting bigger and making things more and more complicated for indie artists to reach our audience, our best bet is to build loyalty with our fans and customers by bringing them to our own platforms, so our news don’t get lost between the noise. My newsletter is free, spam-free and privacy policy compliant. I will only send you the important bits, and you can unsubscribe at any given time. Want to come along for the ride? Let’s talk about your next album, publication or film.
If you are looking to hire a freelance artist for your next project, don’t hesitate in reaching me for availability and quotes. My areas of expertise are cover artworks, editorial projects, music album packagings and film poster design – but not limited to them! Please, while requesting a quote for your project, be as specific as possible: number of elements, illustrations or pages, estimated print run, preferred date of delivery and if you’re on a budget, just let me know it and we will try to work something out, if possible.
Feel free to contact me if you would like me to perform in your next design festival, give a lecture or a workshop in your area, if you’re arranging a group or solo exhibition or if you want to invite me to your podcast or magazine for an interview. Chances are that I’d love to participate in any of those!
Please, allow me 24 hours to reply to your message. Remember to contact me at least 2-3 months prior to your release date, as my schedule might be (and usually is) full.
But if you are just an art appreciator, feel free to ask me any questions you might have about my art for your personal enjoyment: I’ll do my best to clear any doubts you might have about my body of work
